Report from a general meeting of the supporters of the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan in Canada

A general meeting of the supporters of the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan in Canada, with the presence of party representatives, was held in December 2012. At the start of the meeting, the party representatives briefed the party supporters on the situation in Afghanistan and the situation of the international communist movement––particularly the struggles of the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties including the C(M)PA for the formation of a new international communist organization. The discussion then focused on the activities of the supporters of C(M)PA in Canada.

The meeting identified two strong and two weak points of the supporters of the party in Canada. Whereas the supporters of the party in Canada’s strength is in their close relations with the C(M)PA as well as their close relations with the Revolutionary Communist Party of Canada (PCR-RCP), their weakness is in their scant numbers and dispersal throughout Canada.

At the meeting it was emphasized that the supporters of the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan in Canada, in light of the party’s instructions, should consolidate their strengths and remain in close relations with the C(M)PA while maintaining close relations with PCR-RCP. They should continuously strive to prevail over their weak points so as to build a strong organization of party supporters in Canada. The meeting also discussed the issue of financial support for the party.

The comrades pledged to continue their financial support for the party and strive to continuously improve its quality and quantity. The comrades promptly handed over the specified amount of money that they had gathered to the representative of the party. Unfortunately due to technical problems, some of the supporters of the party in Canada could not participate in the meeting.

As a result centralizing the leadership cell of the party supporters in Canada and bringing certain changes in their organizational structure could not be implemented as had been instructed by the party. It was resolved that the party and the party supporters in Canada would jointly strive to bring about these particular organizational changes. At the end of the meeting once again the supporters of the party in Canada pledged to strive for the realization of the objectives and decisions of the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan.
